Class 3 – Taping & First Coat
Practice finishing skills that turn rough drywall into a smooth, professional surface. In this class, you'll learn how to prepare your seams and corners for taping, apply paper and mesh tape correctly, and avoid common beginner mistakes like bubbling and cracking. Through guided, hands-on instruction, you’ll apply your first coat of joint compound (also known as “mud”), using taping knives and hawks to create clean lines and consistent coverage. You'll gain a feel for compound thickness, drying times, and proper pressure techniques—all essential for a solid base coat that sets the stage for a flawless finish. This is where your drywall begins to look like a wall.
