Why become a member?
As a member of Trade Up USA, you are recognized as a trade professional in the community and are invited to participate in periodic members-only meetings that are focused on enhancing business and trade skills through organized networking. By joining and participating in meetings, contractors will have the opportunity to sponsor employment seeking students to the other members of TradeUp meetings for further networking and career building purposes. Members are not required to host events, but those wishing to host events must be members.
Why host an event?
Your participation in Trade Up events will have many benefits, both to you and to your community. For the professional, events provide an opportunity to impart expertise in a paid format, allow professionals to connect with incoming workforce, and provide opportunities to network with other tradespeople. For the community, trade experts will facilitate the growth of interest and confidence in their field and foster relationships both with potential customers and future jobseekers.
What would an event look like and what does Trade Up provide?
Individual training events are inspired and designed by you, the trade expert that is hosting, and based on the basic format provided by TradeUp. Each event should be designed as a stand alone and complete module, generally completed in one session, but can feed into a program of training. The modules should be geared to last approxamately two hours.
Trade Up provides the general, simple outline for the event, which should include: introduction of the trade topic, the official regulating agency or body of that trade, the examples of the work done by that trade, safety issues related to performing that trade, followed by a hands-on introduction of certain tools and materials as determined by the instructor.
